As we continue celebrating National Breastfeeding Month, we're proud to recognize Week 3: Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Breastfeeding Week. This year, AANHPI Breastfeeding Week is celebrated August 15–21 with the theme, "Better Data, Better Care for AANHPI Families."
This week highlights the importance of data equity in improving maternal and infant health outcomes for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander families. While AANHPI communities are often grouped together in health data, doing so can mask the unique experiences, disparities, and needs of the many diverse communities within this population. Better, more inclusive data helps ensure families receive culturally responsive care, equitable resources, and the support they need to achieve their breastfeeding goals.
AANHPI Breastfeeding Week also celebrates the rich cultural traditions, resilience, and strengths of AANHPI families while recognizing the value of community-led efforts to improve breastfeeding support and maternal health. By learning more about data equity and advocating for better representation, we can help build a future where every family is seen, heard, and supported.
Together, we continue to embrace this year's National Breastfeeding Month theme, "RISE: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-Determination, and Empowerment," by supporting equitable care and uplifting the voices and experiences of AANHPI communities.
Thank you for celebrating with us!
