Happy New Year! As we step into 2024, we at Breastfeed Durham are so excited about our journey this year. Our goals this year are about more than just meaningful engagements and transformative experiences, they are about nurturing a community where nursing babies are supported, respected, and celebrated.

We'll kick off the new year with a community review of the DCoDPH Human Milk Feeding Strategic Plan draft – a crucial step towards shaping a breastfeeding-friendly future. Our annual highlight, the Breastfeed Durham Gala, will be an evening rich with celebration and connections, honoring the strides we've made together. We're also thrilled to celebrate the second Queer Family Planning Health Fair, a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and diversity in family support. Our coalition meetings with Lactancia Latina and Black Breastfeeding Coalitions will continue to be pillars of strength and unity, fostering a community where every voice is heard and valued. Our 6-part Breastfeeding Symposia series is set to be a cornerstone for education and empowerment. These sessions are more than just gatherings; they're platforms for learning, sharing, and growing together.

At Breastfeed Durham, our mission is not just about creating breastfeeding-friendly spaces; it's about weaving a fabric of support and understanding across our community. We are dedicated to ensuring that every family in Durham feels equipped and supported in their breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding journey. 2024 is more than just a new year; it's a new chapter in our collective story of changemaking, collaboration, and unwavering support for Durham families. Witness the unveiling of newly developed artwork set to enhance the beauty of Durham parks, a free changemaker workshop, and networking with the Durham community. 

Breastfeed Durham Gala | 6-9 PM 
This gala is not just a fundraiser, it's a tribute to the community's efforts. All proceeds will go towards building Breastfeed Durham's Lactation Fund, which will support and assist lactating families in need.

Breastfeed Durham hosted a virtual First Food Equity Series for providers in Durham County and the surrounding areas on the second Tuesday of each month between October 2022 - May 2023. We are excited to announce that these webinars are now LIVE on our website for our community to refer to at any time! We’ll be featuring each of our First Food Equity Webinars in our monthly newsletter. This month, explore how one's birth experience impacts breastfeeding initiation and duration with Tonya Daniel!
