As we welcome the month of March, we are excited to celebrate the past, present, and future of lactation in Durham. With a focus on Women’s History Month, we reflect on the rich and diverse history of lactation in our community, recognizing the progress we’ve made and the work still ahead to create an equitable and supportive environment for all lactating families.
Breastfeed Durham is proud to honor the strong, resilient women whose contributions have shaped lactation practices in our community. From the history of Black wet nurses to the ongoing efforts to address systemic barriers, we continue to strive for inclusivity and equity in lactation care. This month, we invite you to join us in celebrating the history, embracing the present, and working towards a more connected, supportive future for all families in Durham.
Thank you for being a vital part of our efforts to empower and uplift lactating families. Your involvement makes a difference every day, and together, we will continue to foster a community that values and supports every lactation journey. |

Thank You for Making the Gala a Huge Success! |
| |
To everyone who attended, supported, donated, volunteered, and celebrated with us—thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Whether you came to the gala, donated items for the silent auction, contributed food, helped set up or clean up, spread the word, or simply showed up with a smile—you made this event special.
Every laugh, every conversation, every sticker shared, and every “thank you” exchanged was a testament to the incredible community we are building together.
Because of you, this gala was not just an event—it was a celebration of connection, support, and shared purpose. We are beyond grateful!
With appreciation, The Breastfeed Durham Team
