Breastfeeding Friendly Community Partners
Breastfeed Durham
April 2025

In the midst of April, we are excited to launch our newsletter for breastfeeding friendly community partners! In this monthly newsletter, we will spotlight community partners, highlight events, and share helpful resources for your organizations.

Thank you for being a vital part of our efforts to empower and uplift lactating families. Your involvement makes a difference every day, and together, we will continue to foster a community that values and supports every lactation journey.

Interested in Statewide Recognition as a Breastfeeding Friendly Employer?

Breastfeeding Friendly Employers provide workplaces that have made accommodations to support families that wish to continue nursing their infants after returning to work. An awardee demonstrates support by:

Creating and implementing a policy that allows flexible breaks for expressing milk and ensuring employees have access to a private room for expressing milk or nursing that is NOT a bathroom. The lactating room is required to have a comfortable chair, electrical outlet, and a lock on the door. A hand hygiene station should also be accessible.Pledge NOT to advertise infant formula or related products directly to employees or consumers.

Interested in applying but need support with creating a policy? Find an editable policy template below to get started, and feel free to email our policy coordinator at samantha@breastfeedingcommunities.org for further support as needed.
