As we continue celebrating National Breastfeeding Month, we're proud to recognize Week 2: Indigenous Milk Medicine Week. This week honors the sacred traditions, knowledge, and resilience of Indigenous communities, where breastfeeding and human milk have long been recognized as vital sources of nourishment, connection, healing, and cultural continuity.
Indigenous Milk Medicine Week reminds us of the importance of protecting and uplifting Indigenous voices while acknowledging the historical and ongoing barriers that have impacted breastfeeding within Indigenous communities. By supporting Indigenous-led lactation efforts and honoring traditional practices, we help create spaces where families can reclaim, preserve, and celebrate their cultural strengths. We invite you to learn alongside us as we recognize the wisdom, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous communities.
Together, we continue to embrace this year's National Breastfeeding Month theme, "RISE: Resilience, Interdependence, Self-Determination, and Empowerment," by honoring the traditions that strengthen families and communities across generations.
Thank you for celebrating with us!
