Semana de la Lactancia Latina 2024

This week, September 3-9, we are excited to celebrate  Semana de La Lactancia Latina (Latina/x Breastfeeding Week). This observance, which began in 2023, is more than a calendar event—it's a celebration of cultural heritage, community strength, and a dedicated effort to address the unique challenges Latinx families face in their lactation journeys. Across the country, communities are sharing stories, uplifting voices, and coming together to celebrate the resilience and culture of Latinx families.

Here in Durham, our Lactancia Latina Coalition is at the heart of these efforts, providing culturally relevant lactation support to Spanish-speaking families and the broader Latina community. The coalition works to ensure that every family has the resources, information, and encouragement they need to successfully navigate their breastfeeding and lactation journeys.

By addressing unique challenges such as language barriers, cultural misunderstandings, and limited access to breastfeeding support, the Lactancia Latina Coalition offers tailored resources in Spanish, ensuring families receive accurate and culturally sensitive information.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Semana de La Lactancia Latina and supporting the important work of the Lactancia Latina Coalition. Together, we can honor our traditions, uplift our communities, and ensure that every family has the support they need for a successful breastfeeding experience.
