National Mental Health Awareness Month

May marks National Mental Health Awareness Month. We at Breastfeed Durham recognize that Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) can affect all parents during pregnancy and up to a year after birth. If you or someone you know needs help, reach out. With informed care and support, it can get better. See the postpartum mood support section on our website for more information.

Black Breastfeeding Coalition Meeting
Join us for the next Black Breastfeeding Coalition Meeting. We will be conducting a “breastfeeding wellness check” on the community, reviewing the updated Black Maternal Health Resources Guide, spending some time discussing how we can improve conditions at the WIC office and Lincoln Community Health Center, and more.

Families and Communities Rising and the Durham County Public Health Department are co-sponsoring a Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 2-5 pm at the Durham Bulls Miracle League Park. Applying for Breastfeeding Friendly Designations

In this session of the Building Blocks to Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Learning Bursts, presenters review the CGBI Ten Steps and introduce programs to two of the breastfeeding friendly designations available. Email Breastfeed Durham if you view any of the child care videos. We have an opportunity to secure additional funding if we can document that 35 providers have viewed the videos.
