Breastfeed Durham is welcoming in December!
On December 7, 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris hosted a Summit at the White House to mark the first-ever federal Maternal Health Day of Action. This year, we want to re-highlight the Maternal Health Day of Action, especially because of the maternal health crisis in our country. The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate of any high-income country. The maternal health crisis is particularly devastating for Black and Native American women, and women living in rural communities. We need to expand access to maternal health care, improve maternal health and equity, and address the ongoing maternal mortality and morbidity crisis in our country. |

Breastfeeding Supports in the Classroom |
| |
In this session of the Building Blocks to Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Learning Bursts, we discuss why normalizing breastfeeding in the childcare setting is so important. Normalizing human milk feeding supports families who may want to breastfeed, but don’t know how to manage during the transition into child care. Email Breastfeed Durham if you view any of the child care videos. We have an opportunity to secure additional funding if we can document that 35 providers have viewed the videos. |
