The Durham Digest
Breastfeed Durham
March 2023

Happy Women’s History Month! This month, we acknowledge and celebrate women’s monumental contributions to history, culture, and society. In the space of supporting breastfeeding families and promoting lactation support, women have been substantial drivers of education around lactation, advocating for resources, and creating supportive environments. We are deeply grateful to and will continue to champion, elevate, and celebrate the women who contribute significantly to our community and work tirelessly to advocate for all breastfeeding families in our community.

This month, we also continue our First Food Equity Series to discuss how medical professionals can integrate appropriate lactation support into patient visits. Additionally, we have a new job opportunity for Project Coordinator for Black Breastfeeding Coalition at Breastfeed Durham!

Communicating with Families about Breastfeeding

This session of the Building Blocks to Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Learning Bursts includes breastfeeding community advocates giving families perspective and sharing information on how they best support breastfeeding families. This includes finding and connecting breastfeeding families to supportive community resources. Email Breastfeed Durham if you view any of the child care videos. We have an opportunity to secure additional funding if we can document that 35 providers have viewed the videos.
