Happy National Breastfeeding Month! Over the summer, Breastfeed Durham submitted a revised proclamation to the Durham County Board of Commissioners and Durham City Council that recognizes Durham as a breastfeeding family friendly community in accordance with the recommended ten steps to becoming a Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community established by the Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community initiative.
We are happy to announce that Durham was proclaimed a breastfeeding family friendly community on August 12th, 2024 by the Chair of Durham County Board of Commissioners, and on August 19th, 2024 by the Mayor of Durham. These updated proclamations acknowledge Durham as a community that welcomes nursing families, and supports breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding practices.Â
