Breastfeed Durham’s New Project: “Ready, Set, Daddy”
We are thrilled to announce Breastfeed Durham and Fatherhood of Durham’s latest initiative, “Ready, Set, Daddy,” an innovative and informal gathering designed specifically for fathers. This new project aims to create a supportive environment where dads can learn about how to support their new baby and their lactating partner.
Why “Ready, Set, Daddy”?
Welcoming a new baby into the family is a monumental experience, filled with joy, excitement, and sometimes, a bit of uncertainty. Fathers play a crucial role in this journey, and “Ready, Set, Daddy” is here to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate this new chapter with confidence.
What to Expect?
“Ready, Set, Daddy” is not your typical parenting class. It’s an informal, relaxed gathering where dads can feel comfortable asking questions, sharing experiences, and learning in a supportive community. Each session will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Understanding Breastfeeding: Learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, common challenges, and how to support your partner through the process.
- Bonding with Baby: Discover ways to bond with your new baby, from skin-to-skin contact to reading and playtime activities.
- Supporting Your Partner: Get practical tips on how to assist your lactating partner, from nighttime feedings to emotional support.
- Self-Care for Dads: Recognize the importance of self-care and learn strategies to manage stress and maintain your well-being.
- Community Building: Connect with other fathers, share your experiences, and build a network of support that extends beyond the sessions.
