Our Community Action Team (CAT) includes family leaders, community members, local stakeholders, and partners—all dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Durham County. Part-Time Bilingual (Spanish/English) Hybrid Community Health Worker

The Durham County Department of Public Health is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Bilingual (Spanish/English) Hybrid Community Health Worker to support our Improving Community Outcomes for Maternal and Child Health (ICO4MCH) initiative. This role is perfect for someone looking for a flexible work schedule while still making a meaningful contribution to our organization.

Position Overview

The work is 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to start immediately. This is a contract position with no County benefits provided. Guaranteed funding through at least May 31st, 2026. The hourly pay rate for this role is $20/hour.

Community Spotlights

This month, we celebrate two of our Community Action Team members Lakieta Sanders and Lindsey Bickers Bock, Durham County Department of Public Health!

Lindsey Bickers Bock is celebrating 5 years of service with DCoPH! She is the Health Education Division Director leading the efforts of the Human Milk Feeding Strategic Plan. Find more information here.

Lakieta Sanders is celebrating 20 years of service! She is a Public Health Educational Specialist and Childbirth Educator offering free classes to expecting families via Zoom. If you are interested in her child birth classes, find more information here. Lakieta also provides fun and interactive adolescent pregnancy prevention workshops to youth.

Additionally, she is striving to prevent childhood lead poisoning by providing lead education, testing, and awareness. Lead education workshops and screenings are hosted at childcare facilities and schools serving young children, upon request from the facilities for providers and parents. Their commitment to supporting maternal and child health has had a significant impact on our community. Congratulations!
