Support Breastfeed Durham Monthly

Breastfeed Durham is powered by people like you—community members who believe every family deserves support, no matter their insurance status or ZIP code. When you become a monthly donor, you give us the freedom to respond to real needs in real time.

Grant funding is powerful—but it’s also restrictive. That’s why we rely on unrestricted, community-powered support to sustain our most essential work.

What Your Monthly Gift Supports

Your $12 monthly gift helps us:

  • Free Bernadette to Feed the Community: Our Executive Director, Bernadette, walks alongside pregnant and lactating families, holds babies, chats with barbershop owners, and shows up where she’s needed most—especially in East Durham. This is the heart of public health. But it’s often outside the scope of reimbursable grants.
  • Serve Uninsured Families Through Our Lactation Collaborative: We provide home visits and weekend clinics for uninsured and underinsured parents—free of charge. There’s no grant behind this—it’s a people-powered initiative. Your support keeps it going.
  • Deliver Essentials to Families in Crisis: Diapers, wipes, lactation supplies, and free feeding suppliesgo directly to families who need them most.
  • Reduce Infant Mortality: Your gift builds networks of care that reach the most vulnerable families—before, during, and after birth.
  • Sustain Affinity Groups: We support peer-led spaces for Black, Spanish-speaking, and LGBTQ+ families—offering culturally-rooted care and connection.
  • Center Marginalized Communities: Every dollar helps ensure overlooked communities are seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.

Why Unrestricted Funding Matters

We’re proud of our grant-funded work—but families don’t fit in grant boxes. Emergencies, special circumstances, and real-life complexity require flexibility. Your unrestricted monthly gift is what makes that possible.
