Pregnancy and employment are not mutually exclusive. The ACLU of Delaware released a webpage titled “Pregnant, Post-Partum and Breastfeeding Workers” to answer common questions about pregnancy accommodations, the right to express milk at work, harassment related to pregnancy and breastfeeding, and where to seek help.
The Department of Labor has also released an informational webpage on the rights of nursing employees that highlights protections available under the Break Time for Nursing Mothers law. This law protects the right to take breaks at work to express milk, and includes resources for employees with questions. Eligible employees have a right to reasonable break time to express milk for 1 year after the birth of a child.
