There is a new Breastfeeding Medicine and Lactation Service Line Launching at Duke Family Medicine Center!
Duke Family Medicine Center provides prenatal care (through group classes called Centering Pregnancy and individual care) in addition to serving the whole family as a primary care practice. In August 2021, the clinic launched a new breastfeeding medicine and lactation service line which will include prenatal consultations for women who might be concerned about breastfeeding or have had issues in the past, as well as postpartum breastfeeding consultation and evaluation of tongue ties for frenecotomy. Our clinic is led by an IBCLC-trained physician who is a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. We provide services for a number of breastfeeding issues including low milk supply, hyperlactation, complex nipple pain, complicated mastitis, feeding medically complex babies (including those with cleft palates and Down syndrome), and inducing lactation for non-gestational parents. We accept all patients and families including those with Medicaid and Medicaid pending. Please contact the Duke Family Medicine clinic at 919-684-6721 or message Dr. Andrea Dotson through EPIC to access services.
