In August especially, Breastfeed Durham encourages all of our collaborators to improve equity by implementing Breastfeeding Family Friendly practices: Government, Healthcare, Community Support Providers, Local Businesses, Nonprofits, Faith Communities, Childcare Providers, First Responders, and Families.
As a part of National Breastfeeding Month, Breastfeed Durham is proud to participate in World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7; Native Breastfeeding Week, August 9-15; Feeding and Emergencies Week, August 16-24; and Black Breastfeeding Week, August 25-31.

- We also encourage all Durham healthcare providers to attend the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute’s Breastfeeding University, to apply for the NC Breastfeeding Coalition Mother-Baby Friendly Award for outpatient healthcare clinics, and to seek the Baby-Friendly Hospital designation.

- Friday, July 31; Saturday, August 1; and Sunday, August 2: The Big Virtual Latch On with the Port City Breastfeeding Project
- Tuesday, August 4 at 2:30 pm: Networking Event for Providers. This event will be recorded and shared with parents via social media, with the purpose of increasing and continuing breastfeeding.
