We are excited to share that Patients for Patient Safety US, a patient-led organization dedicated to safe, equitable care, recently invited our Executive Director, Bernadette Greene, and Breastfeed Durham to participate in patient safety and equity workshop in San Diego! PFPS US has many patient safety and diagnostic excellence projects including Project PIVOT which is bringing patients and family members together to rethink how patients and others can reshape safe, equitable care in the US by learning directly from patient-reported experiences and outcomes that matter to patients – data that does not get captured using traditional approaches.
Project PIVOT is gearing up for an exciting 2025, building on the remarkable progress and milestones achieved in 2024. Last year was a banner year for them, with Project PIVOT earning national recognition from the White House and being prominently featured in two sessions at the 2024 IHI Forum. Most recently, they were honored to be acknowledged by the UK-based Learning Hub, which described their work as “very exciting – a huge collaboration to identify experiences and outcomes that need to be reported to the US government for patient safety.” These accomplishments reflect the growing impact of Project PIVOT and the dedication of everyone involved.
To build on this momentum, PFPS US has invited Bernadette to a Project PIVOT workshop taking place March 8–10, 2025, in San Diego, California. They are hosting this workshop in conjunction with IHI’s Patient Safety Congress. This event will be an intimate gathering of approximately 20 select participants, focusing on an in-depth exploration of experiences and outcomes related to discrimination, older adults, people with disabilities, and birthing people of color.
PFPS US is pleased to provide support for participants’ participation and complimentary registration for the IHI Patient Safety Congress. This includes access to all events, including the keynote presentation by Dan Heath, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Switch, Made to Stick, Decisive, The Power of Moments, and Upstream.
Bernadette and participants will have the opportunity to engage in a full-day Project PIVOT workshop, followed by a reception with IHI Congress attendees. On March 10th, attendees will take part in the PFPS US session on Project PIVOT during an IHI “Rise and Shine” session open to all IHI attendees and have the opportunity to attend the keynote presentation and explore other sessions of interest.
