HypnoBirthing

My name is Jess Shaver, I am a home-schooling British mum living outside Chapel Hill on a small regenerative farm with Andy, my NC-born husband, and our sons Caleb (8) and Silas (6). I am passionate about participating in the rite of an accompanied birth. I want to support families – especially those who have barriers to accessing help – to get the birth experience they hope for.

HypnoBirthing® is a tried and proven philosophy that guides and prepares birthing people to give birth in a peaceful and extraordinarily beautiful manner. It is a program that considers the psychological, as well as the physical, well-being of the birthing person, the birth partner, and the newborn, independent of context, whether that be in the quiet of a home, a hospital, or a birth center.

The HypnoBirthing® program is built around an educational process that includes special breathing, relaxation, visualization, meditative practice, attention to nutrition, and positive body toning. Most importantly it fosters an air of mutual respect for the birthing family, as well as the healthcare provider in a traditional healthcare system or an alternative setting.

I am in the process of being certified as a HypnoBirthing® Educator, which involves guiding a pregnant person and their birth partner through 5 sessions of the program, as a case study form of assessment. I am currently seeking a family to guide on this path of birth preparation. The ideal time to share this philosophy is at the 20 to 24-week stage of pregnancy, however, there is flexibility to extend to between 16- 35 weeks.
